Description
What is Norgeston?
Norgeston is a progestogen-only contraceptive pill (POP) containing levonorgestrel, a synthetic hormone similar to the natural hormone progesterone. This mini-pill is primarily used for birth control, offering an alternative for women who cannot take estrogen-containing combined pills. It is highly effective when taken daily at the same time.
How Does it Work?
Norgeston works by thickening cervical mucus, making it difficult for sperm to enter the womb and fertilize an egg. It also alters the lining of the uterus, making it less likely for a fertilized egg to implant. Additionally, in some women, it may prevent ovulation. The effectiveness of the pill largely depends on taking it consistently at the same time each day, as missing doses can reduce its contraceptive efficiency.
