Description
Cerazette is a progestogen-only contraceptive pill, often referred to as a ‘mini-pill.’ It contains desogestrel, a synthetic version of the hormone progesterone. This makes it suitable for women who may not tolerate estrogen-containing contraceptives. Cerazette works by thickening the cervical mucus, making it harder for sperm to enter the womb, and also by preventing ovulation.
This pill is taken daily without breaks, including during periods. Many women may experience irregular bleeding or no periods at all while on Cerazette, which is normal. It is a highly effective contraceptive option, especially for women who prefer or require a hormone-only pill.
